What is STREET TEAM?

We are not your average street team!

Flobots Street Team was initiated by the Flobots in order to connect music to social change and bring fans together to not only support and promote the band, but also to take action within our own communities.

Taking action creates change and it starts with each individual. Everyone’s thoughts matter! So often we hear people talk about change or protesting something they don’t like. Street Team provides an outlet that inspires new ideas and drives us to fight for that which we believe in rather than just talk about it.

Look around you…decide what changes you want to see in the world and take the next steps to do it! Wake up! We are looking for people all over the country who are interested in investing time and energy in improving their communities; so if you want to get involved, sign up today!

Hi Guys I heard you on the radio (Jones) and I think you’re really great. Your music and your message are much better than all of that top-40 crap I’m subjected to every day! Keep it up I’ll be listening! Let me know if you come to Phoenix!

This is what I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Let’s get active and engage the masses for meaningful change. I can’t believe what you guys have done and I want to be a part of this revolution that is desperately needing to happen. Idealists do not need to be discouraged and turned into cynics! One person, led by the mighty Flobots, can make a difference!

Hello flobot fans. at first I thought I was probably in the minority but now I’m not so sure. I’m a 46 year old white male father of three. My oldest son is autistic and is (if I may say so myself) very musically inclined. He turned me on to you. I am totally taken aback. your message of social injustice and our personal responsibility as the people who let this happen make me feel terrible for our blindness to the truth.

I’ve been watching you guys for a few months. Irconicaly enough the first time I heard you was while I was in jail. You have no idea how much we all love you in there!!! I wish I could have put in my vote for your ultimate win….but I don’t think KTCL takes collect calls.

Your music has inspired me and helped me now improve and move on with my life in a way that will not only make my life better but hopes of one day influincing others to make the choices for us all to live in a much better more JUST world!!

Thanks again for all you do and can’t wait to hear and see more!!!

The first time I heard “No Handlebars” I peeled away from my AA group, frustrated about their vision of change. They wanted to keep things the same. When I heard your song while tears of defeat ran down my face, I can’t explain how empowered your lyrics made me. You guys don’t get much playtime in Abilene, TX so when I do hear you played I make sure to leave the radio on to voice my choice to hear you more often. I never knew how complacent I became until I chose a social work major at 37 years old. Plus two years alcohol and drug free makes a difference in my clarity about what the world has become while I was focusing on my addictions. Art and music has always been political as I remember so fondly about Rage Against the Machine. However, your music has a different tone that seeps into you, enough to cause you think that the power of one still can change the world. You guys rock, Louisa.

As a budding philosopher, I cannot forget Nietszche’s suggestion that art is the highest metaphysical pursuit of man.

As an aspiring artist, I cannot but believe that music can foment, unify, and greatly further philantrophic processes.

As a young, ignorant, and still optimistic social activist, I look forward to watching your street team develop.

I have a question: What is STREET TEAM planning to achieve in the “roughly 15 highly competitive states in which both parties will focus their efforts” (MSNBC Decision ‘08 website)

I have recently been hearing your songs on a Chicago Radio Station. You were doing some shows there. I live in Michigan and did not get a chance to come out. I hope you all make it back. I love your style and that your songs have meaning to them. You are going to blow up big time, so I am sure I will get the chance to see you. Being an Unemployed 26 year old male who cant find a teaching job has been stressful. You Music gives me some motivation.
    Thank you

I love your music’s point of view. I can fully identify with it, yet I imagine many other people cannot. So many of us are strung out on propaganda, unnecessary prescription pills, and greed that they couldn’t understand the message if they tried. To whoever reads this: Don’t give up, get organized- it is the only way we have a chance against what has become “the establishment.” Don’t just start a street team, start a movement. It is up to us Americans to fix the planet, if we fail it will be our fault, not the poor people in 3rd world countries who are pre-occupied with survival. Stand up!

I heard Handlebars on the radio a few weeks ago here in Austin. I then found your entire album on purevolume and I have to say that your music and message are amazing. You have motivated me to go from politically aware to politically active. Thank you and I’ll see you at the Austin Bat Festival.

Wow. That’s all I can say about your cd. It very well may be my favorite cd I’ve ever shelled out cash for. But I was more than happy to do it as long as you keep doing what you do.
You keep educating and I’ll keep acting.

why must we wait to cough to want to clean the air.
why do we wait for gas to get to $10 before we want a hybrid.
why do we wait for blood and war before we look for peace.
why do we wait for a child to die before we decide its time to get off our lazy asses and reach a hand out to our neighbor and give out of our surplus instead of wasting our money on rims and navigators anr $200 hundred dollar jordans and watches that are worth more than most peoples houses.

because that is what we’re taught as americans.
    keep the rich rich.
we now have a musical and vocal outlet. make it happen.

Fantastic. Your CD is amazing, both the messages behind the songs and your musical style. I fell in love with “Handlebars” the first time I heard it, and finally have heard the rest of the CD. Great music.

This whole Street Team thing is an awesome idea too. Glad to hear it’s off to a good start, and can’t wait for the movement to take off in Tampa!

    Hi,

PEPFAR, America’s main vehicle for helping end the suffering caused by global AIDS is in trouble. The two most powerful senators, Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell, need to hear from us that we appreciate their past support and need their leadership now on this critical bill.

I just took action with the ONE Campaign and you can too, here:

I want to commend you all for your promotion of social change and justice!

I was at your Milwaukee show recently an it was the most inspiring concert I’ve ever been to. The audience left feeling like they had just connected with a room full of strangers because there are bigger issues in our communities than moshing and getting to the front row!

I believe your band, your street teams, and all your supporters will make a real impact on the world. Going beyond the mere promotion of justice and non-violence, you are practicing what you preach…fighting with tools!

Keep up the fight! I can’t wait to get involved!

Amazing show at Summerfest last night. I caught on to you guys while I was out at school in Denver, but I never thought I’d see you on the summerfest bill this summer. To say the least I was excited to see you guys getting some midwest exposure and the show was unbelievable. Keep it up, whether or not everyone understands the message of your music at first, you’ll move people to educate themselves about the activists and ideas in your music. Its refreshing to hear a group as ecclectic and educated as the sound and message you bring.

Hearing your music for the first time last month, I just listened to the beat. Once I was over the beat I kinda got over the music. Then I started to listen to the lyrics a couple weeks later, and started to understand them in a way that I can’t comprehend. You guys have made me think about many things that have never run through my head.

    Thanks a bunch guys,
I’m glad to say I got to see you guys live at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI

The first time I heard Handlebars I felt like I had purpose in the world. I’ve always felt it deep down inside of me, but when I heard the song it woke up with a new fire. I’m looking at how my actions can effect others now with more respect because of how your song effected me. I am taking a book I’ve been working on more seriously and how in some small ways I can change the world in my own way. I want to get involved in The Street team here in Denver.

I just want to say I’m proud to be going to East High School because of how many great people have come out of it. I’m going to live up to those people and be the change I have wanted to see. Keep up the great work, Flobots.

Your message resonates…what if a message like this started a movement? do pure ideas grow and lead to a dark places anyway?

Me and my partner saw the clip for handlebars late one night last week on our music channel and were transfixed from the first notes. Frankly, I normally don’t like your kind of music. I love the lyrics and the message but the music wouldn’t normally be my cup of tea. But you have the kind of music that spans genres. It’s so beautiful that your just immediately hooked. I love you guys.
I know that you probably have plenty of stuff to do in the states, but is there any chance you’ll make it down to New Zealand? Pretty please?

I was listening to the radio one day and I heard the song “Handlebars” I can’t describe the thoughts running through my head when I heard it. I had to hear the song again. I play the trumpet, so what really perked my ears was Jesse Walker. When I listen to the lyrics, I was just taken aback. I’ve been waiting for a band to sing the words of truth, and not just some depressing words. Keep it up Flobots. LEAD THE WORLD WITH YOUR MUSIC!

There isn’t much left to say that hasn’t been said. You are giving thoughts and emotions that people have been feeling globally a voice. I can’t thank you enough for injecting a message in to a generation that has the chance to make or break the future of this country.

AS a single mother of 6, all of whom are involved musically (my basement is THE place for the band(s) to practice, I hear a lot of music. I’m 53 and I haven’t been moved by music in a long time. Your message inspires me to continue fighting and my ears appreciates the quality of the musical construction. I look forward to seeing you at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC.

I just recently heard “Handlebars” as they added it to the rotation on Hitist and Top 20 on 20 in the XM world. I was speechlessand taken back by the lyrics. It was like a haunting chant that you just can’t shake. I think it’s incredible that you are reaching so many different demographics and age groups: you touch the very fabric of the human spirit which dicriminates aaginst no one whther by race, color, religion, or any other aspect. This is how you will succeed. Your message is one of hope but we must initiate the change and carry on that message. The world has become a dangerous place because we have let our governments run wild for too long. You have spread your message with a microphone and it has spread like wildfire…and we are listening. I look forward to hearing much more from you. Fight with Tools!!

I first heard “Handlebars” and was intrigued by your group, so I went searching for more of your music. After listening to “Stand Up”, “Rise”, and “Fight With Tools”, I am happy to say that you’ve found a new fan in the Great White North. Finally, the medium has a message, one worth carrying. Congratulations and keep up the amazing work - I hope to see you on this side of the 49th Parallel!

Handlebars is an amazing commentary on (I am assuming) the Bush Administration, though it also defies such simple categorization (its applicability is broader). I have not been so affected by a song in a long time; the fact that you have deeply touched (and unnerved) a 42 year old mother of 6 living in the suburbs is a testament to the power of this music. Americans should all recognize the deep hole we have dug and the scope, depth and banality of the evil being perpetrated in our names throughout the world. It is encouraging to see at least some folks standing up and taking action.
